Do you make England’s Best Burger?
Then enter the burger challenge now!

Do you think you make the most succulent, tender and tasty burger in the business? Then why not put it to the test by entering EBLEX’s Burger Challenge? With the prestigious title of ‘England’s Best Burger’ up for grabs and the chance to benefit from the associated publicity, it’s an opportunity not to be missed!

There are two categories for entry:

• Independent (retail butcher or caterer) – for businesses making and selling burgers from scratch on the premises
• Manufacturer – making burgers for supply to multiple retailers or foodservice operators

Burgers can be made from beef, veal, lamb or mutton, but the meat used must be from an assured source compliant with the Red Tractor, EBLEX Quality Standard or an equivalent named quality scheme.

In the first round of judging all entries will be assessed and marks equating to gold, silver and bronze status will be awarded to the highest scoring burgers. Only those achieving gold will make it into the final.

At this stage all gold award winners will be invited to resubmit their products for a further round of judging, and a winning burger will be chosen in each category. The entrant whose burger achieves the highest score will then be awarded the overall winner’s title, ‘England’s Best Burger,’ which will be formally announced at the prestigious Meat Management Awards on June 9^th.

Hugh Judd, EBLEX foodservice project manager, said: "The accolade of producing ‘England’s Best Burger’ is highly sought after. Burgers are one of the nation’s favourite foods, eaten both in and out of the home and enjoyed by adults and children alike. Of course quality is of paramount importance, but we’re also looking to see alternative cuts, innovative ingredients or something else which makes your burger stand out from the crowd. There are some wonderful, innovative and tasty burgers on sale and this competition gives caterers, butchers and manufacturers the chance to prove that theirs is the best!”

Entry forms are available to download and copies will also be available to pick up from the EBLEX stand at Food & Drink Expo, 21-24 March (NEC Birmingham, Stand N111, Halls 4/5).
